Licensed in August 2016 by the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Somaliland Concrete Company is the pioneer of ready-mixed concrete in Somaliland: the first company to produce it in the country. From our quarry at Habaalo Tumaalood and our plants in Berbera and Burao, we supply airports, ports, fuel terminals, roads and factories with aggregates and concrete to BS EN standards.

Gabbro, basalt, granite and limestone crushed at our own sites, so aggregate quality is controlled before it reaches the mixer.

Truck mixers keep the concrete agitated in transit, and our boom pump places it where cranes and chutes cannot reach.

Hands onA field entrepreneur, Mohamed still takes the wheel of SCC's mixer trucks himself.
Born in Somalia, he fled the civil war in 1988 and arrived in France as a refugee. He studied in Burgundy and built his career step by step, from his first jobs with French, Italian and Dutch groups to the head of international SMEs in France, Switzerland and China.
Those years taught him how industry works at international standards: quality systems, plant operations, supply chains and teams from many cultures. When he looked at Somaliland, he saw a construction boom running on hand-mixed concrete, with wasted material, uncertain strength and long delays.
His idea was to bring the country its first ready-mixed concrete company. In 2016 he founded Somaliland Concrete Company. He started with the rock itself, opening a quarry in Berbera when few believed in the port city, then built the batching plants, the fleet and the laboratory. When the port, fuel terminals and factories arrived, SCC was ready to supply them.
Every year's profit has gone back into equipment, without bank credit. Today SCC controls the chain from quarry to pour, builds through its subsidiary Cullinan Construction, and serves Emirati, Saudi and Indian contractors with demanding specifications.

SCC operates two crushing plants with a combined 600 tonnes per hour. Our rock is tested for density, absorption, impact value and alkali reactivity, and graded to BS EN sizes for concrete, asphalt, road base and marine works.

Every grade is available with OPC 42.5 or SRC 42.5 (sulphate-resisting) cement. Pick an application to see the grades that suit it, then select a grade for its typical mix parameters. The number after "C" is the characteristic 28-day cube strength in N/mm² (MPa).
High-strength grades up to C70 are produced by design mix on request. Values are indicative, based on EN 206 / BS 8500 practice. Final mix proportions are confirmed by SCC trial mixes against your project specification.
Beyond strength, a mix is tuned for how it is placed and what it has to resist. These are the variants we produce.
A clean, level working base under foundations; also used for kerb bedding, haunching and backfill.
Our standard binder: CEM I class 42.5 for general structural concrete, from blinding to high-strength grades.
Unreinforced strip footings, ground-bearing slabs and mass fill where volume matters more than tensile capacity.
Foundations, columns, beams and suspended slabs, with aggregate size and cover matched to the rebar spacing.
Higher fines and controlled slump so it moves through the boom line without blocking or segregating.
Low water/cement ratio and higher cement content to resist chloride attack on coastal and quay structures.
Made with sulphate-resisting cement class 42.5 for foundations in aggressive soils, groundwater and coastal structures.
Large raft foundations and tank bases poured at night, with retarder and temperature control to limit cracking.
Heavily loaded columns, transfer structures and precast elements, using plasticisers to keep the water content low.
Flows around dense reinforcement without vibration. Tested by slump-flow instead of the standard slump.
Yards, hardstands and warehouse floors built for trucks, containers and power-floated finishes.
Cooled with ice and retarded for long hauls and high temperatures, so the concrete arrives at the specified temperature and stays workable.

Strength alone does not make concrete last. EN 206 sets limits by exposure. Structures on the Berbera coast usually fall into the seawater (XS) classes, highlighted below.

We add ice to the mix and measure concrete temperature at batching and on arrival, so every load meets the specified maximum even in Berbera's summer heat.
Mixing water is tested for pH and quality to BS EN 1008 before production, so it does not affect setting or strength.
We produce with ordinary Portland and sulphate-resisting cement, class 42.5, chosen for the exposure of each structure.
